The Fusion 2.0 tonal pack gives the signature Karhu sneaker a blacked-out treatment—and makes it look like a Balenciaga or Yeezy.
Karhu is a brand you might not know as well as some other sneaker brands, but they’re legends in the dad-style game. And because of the recent uptick in menswear interest in chunky, oversized running sneakers, they’re having a banner year in 2017. We like to think of them as the Finnish New Balance—a company with a century-old heritage and a commitment to some of the most comfortable sneakers on the planet. Most of our favorite sneakers from Karhu pack a punch in terms of color scheme, but they just dropped a new tonal pack of their Fusion 2.0 sneaker that features an almost all-black scheme we can’t wait to get our hands (and feet) on.
Here’s why: all-black chunky dad sneakers are actually having a kind of mini-moment right now. Balenciaga recently dropped an all-black, pre-distressed version of its off-the-walls Triple S style, and Kanye West was spotted last week in a pair of all-black Yeezy Boost 700 sneakers (his own take on the oversized sneaker trend). Truth is, the Karhu Fusion 2.0 sneaker actually came out before those two styles, first debuting all the way back in 2015 as an update to its 1996 style. (That one was simply called—you guessed it—the “Fusion.”) But given that the trend now has the cosign from one of the hottest labels in fashion and one of the most influential men in sneakers, expect the all-black Fusion 2.0 to be a hit this fall and winter. Plus, it helps that unlike Balenciaga’s $850 Triple S or Kanye’s impossible-to-get Yeezys, the Karhu Fusion 2.0 has a $140 price—something that cool dads and sneakerheads will manage to agree on.
